Parian Spirit, the Professional Makeup Brush Cleaner of Industry Insiders.
Levon Parian started this preferred professional cleaner in 1990 when his wife worked at Universal Studios as a costume designer/makeup artist. She got tired of using brush cleaners with hazardous chemicals (usually dry cleaning fluid). She discussed this with Levon, a Biochemistry graduate. “She asked if I can make a brush cleaner that was non-toxic and that really works, Universal Studios would order it."Levon recalls. Inspired by an inventor friend, and using his degree to good use, Levon began experimenting to find a solution. The first formula had some problems but after about a year of experimenting, he came up with a very good working formula. “The first person I showed the idea to was Naimie, who had one of the largest professional artist retail stores. He gave me some tips on improvements and I added his suggestions.” he fondly remembers.
True to his wife’s predictions, Levon Parian’s first customer was Universal Studios. He slowly diversified and soon thereafter, Paramount Studios liked it! “At the time, they were still producing the Star Trek series. Production artists were using acetone to clean the glues and dry cleaning fluid to clean the makeup off of the prosthetic pieces for the characters in the series. When they tried Parian Spirit, they found it did the best job of both toxic chemicals, and yet was environmentally friendly (non-toxic).
An instant phenomenon, Parian Spirit was an immediate hit and became the state of the art in makeup brush cleaning. Up until that time no brush cleaner had thought of disinfecting the brushes from bacteria. Ordinary shampoos and dry cleaning fluid did not solve that problem. To this day, some major cosmetic companies have asked Parian Spirit to produce professional makeup brush cleaners under their retail brand names.
It is only after Parian Spirit originated the slogan: "cleans, conditions, and disinfects," is there universal awareness about hygiene in makeup brush care. Another importance of Parian Spirit is it cleans effectively, does not strip the paint off the makeup brushes handles, and reconditions the bristles of the brush and at the same time cleans and disinfects.
KNOW YOUR PARIAN SPIRIT:
Made from organic components that age with time, each Parian Spirit product is made fresh, much like orange juice. Usually we are looking at 6 months to 1 year under normal conditions. So a consumer should not buy more than they need in 6 months and a retailer should stock only what they can sell in 3-4 months. This keeps our product fresh and at its peak performance. What happens when Parian Spirit starts getting old, first, when you swirl the bottle, you will see cloudiness in the mixture. Also, you may notice that after one year, the smell of the product will become sour. Though it will still work and not damage your brushes, it has lost its peak effectiveness for professional use. Drying time is extended, and a slight oiliness may linger longer than normal. Dipping in alcohol will alleviate this problem. But when it gets to this condition we like to say that you have purchased more than you need, and it is time to use Parian Spirit around the house as a cleaner. It does a great job cleaning the oven, car or almost anything of oily residue.
